Daddy at work

Jacob's daddy is working in the "Big town of Seminary" doing road work. Since he was so close to home we decided to visit him today while he was working. The look on Jacob's face was priceless when he first saw his daddy. He was all smiles! Jim took him over and let him see the "big truck." We didn't get to stay very long because daddy had to get in and start unloading some asphalt. Before we had to leave I was able to snap a few pictures.

Making Brownies!

Something I've learned to occupy my child with is to put him up on the counter and start baking. He loves to help me stir and mix the ingredients together. It gets a little messy but that's ok by me!

We baked brownies today and here is the recipe if you'd like to bake your own.

Chocolate Brownie Bars
Ingredients:
6 tablespoons Hershey's Cocoa
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup boiling water
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
Vanilla frosting
(homemade or ready-to-spread)

Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat
surface of (i used silicone Hershey's loaf pans) with a thin layer of nonstick cooking spray. Place bakeware on sturdy cookie sheet or baking pan for support.
2. Stir together cocoa and baking soda in medium bowl; stir in half melted butter. Add boiling water; stir until blended and slightly thickened. Stir in sugar, eggs and remaining melted butter, until smooth. Add flour, vanilla and salt; blend completely. Evenly spread about 1/2 cup batter in each mold.
3. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until brownie starts to pull from edges of mold. Cool completely in mold on wire rack. To remove brownie bars, invert pan, apply pressure to bottom and carefully peel away bakeware.
4. Spread frosting on top of brownies!

Sleepy Baby

A friend and I took our children to see the movie Despicable Me. Jacob usually takes a nap around the time of the movie and didn't get his usual one. Although, he did take about a 20 minute one during the movie. Needless to say, this was all the nap he had for the day.

When his daddy made it home from work they went 4-wheeler riding and then did some
swinging on the swing-set. Futhermore, it didn't take much to put him out. Sleepy baby!

An Adventurous Day!

A friend of mine let us tag along on a Day Trip she had planned. We rode to Meridian to see life size Lightening McQueen and Tow Mater. What a treat it was!

Then we went to Highland Park for a picnic and a ride on the carousel. Sad but true, I do not have pictures of the carousel. :^(

Then, it was to Dunn's Falls to try and cool off a bit. What a beautiful place it was but the climb down to the falls was tough with child in tow. My child has never seemed to like the water but this particular day he decided he wanted to get down and walk around on the slippery rocks. I decided it was time to go at this point because I did not want to ride home with wet clothes on. Then, it was the dreaded climb back up the stairs. (with child in tow!)

Homemade Play Dough

I'd like to share the recipe for homemade play dough that Mrs. Iris gave me. It is so simple and fun to make.

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c water
1 tbs. cooking oil
Food coloring

Mix dry ingredients together.
Add oil, water & coloring.
Cook 3 minutes till it boils. Stirring continuously
When it starts sticking to sides and bottom it is probably ready.
Pour onto wax paper and let cool.
Knead and store in air tight container.
